banquette, booth, nook — whatever you call them, they’re comfy, right? when you go to a restaurant you always want to sit in them and in fact, there’s always a bit of a silent arm wrestle going on — “do you want to sit on the nice plush bit against the wall? or this rather stiff-looking lonely chair?” everyone secretly wants the comfortable, upholstered booth side, but sometimes we’re just too polite to actually say so out loud. well, if you build, or create one at home you can sit there whenever you bloody well please! they’re a great space-saver and a good option for an odd corner in your kitchen. or, if you’ve got a long window, they’re just aching for you to put a built-in banquette there to seat the whole family. plus, if you build it, you can add extra storage underneath the seats. build or pull up a small bench, add a round table and a couple of extra side chairs and voilá — instant kitchen dining nook.
