Incredible Interior Trends for 2016 You Need To See

When it comes to home interior trends, 2016 is definitely a good year and whether you’re revamping your home for yourself or to attract potential buyers in the future, here are the ones you should be making a note of:

Minerals

Those raw, glittering crystals you see in gift shops are quickly becoming the latest sought after décor item when it comes to home interiors. Scattering natural quartz stones and jagged pyrite on coffee tables and shelves should add an interesting element to your usual arrangements and are definitely conversation starters.

Geometric flooring

2016 is apparently going to be the year where we feel inspired by Moroccan interiors with geometric tiles being the preferred choices for entrance hallways and bathrooms. Hexagon shaped tiles are another take on this trend and look incredible slotted together on bathroom walls, if you’re deciding to redecorate that wet room.

Natural colours

Dulux has come to the conclusion that colour trends for interiors in 2016 will feature calming greys, exotic khakis, metallics and retro pastels inspired by the 60s and 70s. Pantone released the 2016 Fashion Colour report in September and I’ve been so excited to see all of the new products that will be coming into the Home and Décor section of stores and how they style the images for their websites and catalogues. Keep an eye out in your interior design magazine subscriptions for what’s to come!

Mixing metals

Teaming up gold and bronze, chrome and rusted metal, is a trend for 2016 home interiors that works well. Mixing metals is so easy and removes any limitations when it comes to choosing furniture or fittings for a room. Copper will still be around but not as strong a theme in 2016 home décor.

Outside comes inside

Greenery is a trend that many interior designers will visit in 2016 as they attempt to bring the outside in with furniture that can be used both indoors and outdoors and easy to care for plants, such as succulents and air plants, maintaining their popularity and gracing the windowsills and shelves of homes everywhere. Artificial plants will work just as well, a large fake banana tree or some fun cactus ornaments can be featured in the home and still tap into the trend.

Living walls have been a huge trend this past year and if you have the funds they won’t diminish in popularity anytime soon. Living walls are striking and work in any room in the house, they use plants that don’t require a huge amount of care but for bigger installations watering systems are included within the wall itself.

Natural materials

Furniture and decorative items are returning to their roots with cork and wood making a comeback as well as raw concrete and natural stone. Marble is also gaining in popularity again for worktops and shelving backdrops. When deciding upon new furniture and fittings in 2016 simply look for items that appear to be in their raw state, to take on this trend and feature it in your home.
