dining style.

dining style.

Isn’t it great how some of our favorite memories and get togethers end up being simple dinners with friends and family in our own homes? With family vacations and visits in full swing this summer, I thought we should touch on one of the best conversation starters for any event — dining room art. A dining room should be both inviting yet chic, and as with any space, it’s always nice to have something lovely to look at whether the art be bright, floral or sentimental family photos. Minted has loads of art print options, and I thought I’d share some inspiration to get your curator wheels turning.

Darcy Miller’s home in architectural digest.

To kick off the dinner talk, it’s always easy with a collection of sentimental photos, images and keepsakes arranged in a photo collage as fashion stylist Tiina Laakkonen has displayed in her mid-20th-century home in the Hamptons.

A dinner party in this space, photographed by Jeroen van der Spek, would be like having a secret meal in a whimsical forest hideaway. The botanical prints on the wall paired with the sculptural hanging vases provide a fine art alternative that is perfect for summer.

Another example of gorgeous botanical themed dining room art is within this bright and airy Toronto cottage. Found at a local flea market, these lithographs date back to the 1940’s and work great as a triptych.

If abstract is more your style, take a peek at how Sonia van der Zwaan chose this large and colorful painting to set the scene for a colorful tablescape, then balanced it with a white lace tablecloth and mid-century chairs.

We still cannot get over our boucherouite obsession. Needing a colorful piece of art for a focal point, I love how Sarah from A House in the Hills let’s hers pop as a wall tapestry against her dark dining room walls.

Bright plates are both functional and dining room art in the home of Katrin Arens, where she used reclaimed wood pallets to display her colorful collection of ceramic kitchen goods.
